This has been quite a project.
About 4 years ago, I wanted to create an online art gallery for regional emerging artists. The Mahoning Valley and its neighbors have a very large amount of established and emerging artist, but there aren't many available venues, and I thought it would be a good way for everybody to get some much needed exposure.
I started off with just a gallery section on my personal website, for other artists I appreciated. Just a few images and a small bit of information, with a link back to their website. This went on for a while, and I got very busy with other projects.
About a year and a half ago I came back to it, with many more ideas, and a much broader scope. After 18 months of work, lots of research, and 3 redesigns, the end result is finally online: imageMANIFEST.
We offer an online venue for local professional artists to display their work to the public. We offer, and will be offering a lot more, ways for artists to network and communicate with one another. We offer articles with tips on techniques and trends in the industry, and some of the best marketing advice available. We offer museum quality Giclee printing, in both short and long runs, on a variety of materials and papers at pricing that is literally unheard of in this area. We offer many art resources, including our calendar of events, and a directory of opportunities for gallery shows and publishing.
Some things we will be working on for the future of imageMANIFEST:
- a high quality print version
- low-cost on demand book publishing for artists
- a social network with portfolio functionality
- an online print store featuring local artists
...and lots more.
